The film Boers at the End of the World is set to premiere at UM on December 5, 2017 as part of the Fall 2017 African Diaspora Film Festival.
Produced by Kelly Scott, this 2015 documentary highlights the Afrikaans-Argentine bilingual community featured in the Humanities Collaboratory project ("From Africa to Patagonia: Voices of Displacement"), including insight into the 2014 data collection trip led by Nicholas Henriksen, Lorenzo García-Amaya, and Andries Coetzee. Additionally, the film's director, Richard Finn Gregory, will be there hosting a Q&A session after the showing. The film has been very widely acclaimed, winning several awards, including 3 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
The screening will take place at 4:00 pm in room 100 of the Harlan Hatcher Graduate Library; all are invited to attend.
